Delicious Ketupat (Malay Rice Dumplings)
In Malaysia, one of the main Hari Raya Aidilfitri goodies served to guests is "Ketupat" or packed riced dumpling. Rice is placed in a woven palm leave pouches and boiled until they are cooked. Ketupat comes in various shapes but the most common shapes are the square and triangular shape type. Triangular shape ketupats are popular and common in the state of Kelantan and Terengganu, while the rest of other states, square type ketupats are preferred. Ketupats are normally served with a very thick curry gravy called "Rendang" and ketupats are also served with satays with peanut source. If you ever had the opportunity to encounter ketupats, please try them....you will love them, provided that you can take the hot and spicy "Rendang" curry and Malaysian style peanut source. Ketupat is mainly one of the reasons that lure us (non-muslim) to our muslim friends' open house....we can eat Ketupat to our heart contents! Hahahahaha.....thank gooodness there is "Hari Raya Aidilfitri" Hehehehe....
