Phyllantus Niruri or commonly known as Stonebreaker has a long history in traditional herbal medicine in tropical countries. I still remember that when I was a boy, I used to have a lot of encounters with this herb but never knew its medicinal use. In fact, I did try to eat / taste the tiny "fruit" along its leave stem.

For hundreds of years P. niruri has been used as an herbal remedy to kidney stones, viral infections, liver disorders, bacterial infections, and many other ailments. In more recent years, however, P. niruri has been shown in modern medicine to cure or treat multiple disorders.

P. niruri is used for the treatment of kidney stones. In both traditional and modern medicine, Stonebreaker is believed to help prevent nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). According to Mirian A. Boim, Phyllanthus niruri has been shown to interfere with many stages of kidney stone formation. Although more clinical trials are necessary to confirm these findings, P. niruri shows promise as an effective cure to kidney stones.

Phyllanthus niruri shows potential to prevent liver damage. In a 2007 study conducted by Rajesh Bhattacharjee and his associates, lab mice were injected with chemicals to induce liver damage. These mice were then treated with a protein isolated from P. niruri. Remarkably, the protein brought the liver back to almost normal conditions. Their results also suggest the protein isolated from P. niruri protects liver tissues and helps stimulate the liver to repair itself.

Chemoprevention is defined as the use of drugs, chemicals, or other means to prevent and/or delay the development of cancer. Recently, Stonebreaker has been shown to act as a chemopreventive agent. In 2009, Priyanka Sharma and his team conducted an experiment to test P. niruri as a chemopreventive agent. In the experiment lab mice were induced with skin cancer. These mice were then treated with P. niruri and it caused significant reduction in tumor incidence, tumor yield, and tumor burden. These results suggest Stonebreaker extracts display significant anti-tumor activity and is thus an affective chemopreventive agent.

Phyllanthus niruri has shown evidence of being anti-hepatitus B, but according to Dr. A.D. Naik and A.R. Juvekar, this herbal plant also shows signs of being anti-HIV. Alkaloidal extract of P. niruri showed promising results when tested on cells infected with HIV. Cells treated with P. niruri extracts were reduced in toxicity. In addition, the extract provided considerable protection from HIV destroying the cell. These findings thus confirm that Stonebreaker extracts express anti-HIV properties.

P. niruri displays evidence of anti-diabetic activity. Again in this experiment, conducted by Dr. Charles Okoli and his associates, lab rats were used. Diabetic rats were treated with aerial extracts of Stonebreaker and as a result the rats’ blood glucose levels decreased, as well as their glucose absorption and storage. While it’s not know for sure if P. niruri caused these results, these findings suggest the lowered blood glucose levels were caused by the aerial extracts of P. niruri. As a result, Stonebreaker is known to be anti-diabetic.

Ann Cameron, an author of 15 children's books, cured her Stage 4 cancer with carrot juice only. She states, "I believe from personal experience that carrots can cure cancer - and rapidly, without chemotherapy, radiation, or other dietary changes."

In her search, she came across a man who had cured his cancer with nothing but carrots. His name was Ralph Cole, and he had cured his small squamous cell cancer (on his neck) by drinking 5 pounds of carrots juiced daily. Ralph shared his carrot curing protocol freely with anyone who would listen.

On November 17, Ann began a daily regimen of 5 pounds of juiced carrots (one quart to a quart and one-third daily). Ann juiced in the morning, drank a glass and then refrigerated the rest, which she finished off throughout the day. Ann faithfully continued juicing five pounds of carrots daily.

• Two weeks of daily carrot juicing: no improvement.
• Eight weeks of juicing: the cancer stopped growing and tumors began shrinking.
• Four months of juicing: all the lymph nodes in the lungs were normal.
• Eight months of juicing: all the cancer was gone!

Carrots and Cancer Research
Falcarinol is an antioxidant found in carrots and has proven anticancer properties. Researchers in the UK and Denmark reduced cancerous tumors by 1/3 in mice and rats with lab induced cancers.

Additionally, a human study found that consumption of carrot juice increased blood levels of carotenoids in breast cancer survivors. The researchers believe that increased carotenoid blood levels acts as a cancer preventive.

BE SHOCKED AND BE PREPARED: As American CDC is admitting that the era of antibiotic (drugs) are coming to an era of end....more superbugs and superweeds cannot be controlled / killed by drugs / chemicals....The "post-antibiotics" era means doctors will send you home to die from common infections. Drug companies have NO solutions in the pipeline. 23,000 Americans already dying each year from superbugs (super virus / super bacteria) with no end in sight. Here is the report: So, we all should now go back to mother nature.....for natural cures !!!

Always remember, if pain is severe or incapacitating, please see your health care professional.  This post is for informational purposes only, and is not intended to replace trained medical advice.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #1 – Epsom Salts

Tried and true, a cup or two of Epsom salt dissolved in a warm tub of water works wonders for aching muscles.  Use warm, not hot, water.  Warm water will dry out your skin less.  Soak for 15 minutes or until the water has cooled, up to three times per week.  Not recommended for those with health conditions such as heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes.

How do Epsom salts work?  Epsom salts are made up of magnesium sulfate.  Magnesium is natural muscle relaxant, and as a salt they help to pull excess fluids out of the tissues, reducing swelling.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #2 – Heat or Cold

A warm shower or bath also triggers the muscle to relax, which can be great for tension knotted shoulders or muscles tight from overuse.  For bruising or inflammation, an ice pack applied to the affected area for up to 20 minutes can reduce swelling and soreness.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #3 – Oral Magnesium

Low levels of magnesium in the body can lead to general muscle aches and muscle cramps.  You may want to consider a supplement, but you can start by including foods that are high in magnesium in your diet.  Some of the top food sources for magnesium are molasses (see below), squash and pumpkin seeds (pepitas), spinach, Swiss chard, cocoa powder, black beans, flax seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and cashews.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #4 – Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

15 people on the Earth Clinic Muscle Cramp page give Apple Cider vinegar a thumbs up for treating sore muscles and leg cramps.  Most folks mix a tablespoon or two in a glass of water and drink it down, some drink a tablespoon straight like a shot.  Still other rub the vinegar directly on the area of the sore muscle/cramp.  A variation of this is a fellow who drank pickle juice and achieved similar results.  Judith recommends 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of honey, a sprig of fresh mint and 8 to 10 ounces of cold water, well mixed.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #5 – Blackstrap Molasses

Another Earth Clinic user (Ackbar) says 1 tablespoon of blackstrap molasses in a cup of coffee each day cured his chronic muscle pain.  This is likely due to the magnesium content.  Another way to get combine ACV and molasses is the old fashioned drink called Switchel, which was commonly used before the age of brightly colored sports drinks and juices shipped from around the world.  This version of the drink is from Hillbilly Housewife.

Switchel Recipe
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup sugar or honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • tap water to make 2 quarts
Mix first four ingredients to blend, then add water and mix until dissolved.  Chill or serve over ice, if desired.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #6 – Coconut Oil

Like apple cider vinegar, coconut oil is recommended for a wide variety of ailments.  On the EarthClinic site, Lynn says that she uses 2-3 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil per day in cooking and applied on foods like butter.  if you want an easy way to eat more coconut oil, may I recommend virgin coconut oil in capsule form.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #7 – Essential Oils

A number of essential oils and essential oils blends may be helpful for relieving muscle pain.  For muscle cramps, dōTERRA recommends lemongrass with peppermint, marjoram or Deep Blue® (blend).  For muscle spams, top recommended oils are basil, marjoram, Deep Blue® (blend) and Roman Chamomile.  For muscle tension, try marjoram, Deep Blue®, peppermint, helichrysum, lavender or Roman Chamomile.

To use an essential oil for muscle pain, add one to two drops of the essential oil into one tablespoon of a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or olive oil, and apply to the affected area.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #8 – Movement

If you’re just stiff and sore, more of what got you that way may be the answer.  Over time, your muscles will build and strengthen and you’ll be able to do more with less discomfort.  Just getting up and moving around and doing some gentle stretching works wonders.  Our muscles tend to want to stay doing whatever they’re doing, unless we force them to change.  If you’re tensed up, they’ll stay tensed up.  Stand up, walk, run, stretch, garden – do whatever you can to be active, so you can stay active as you age.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #9 – Massage

Massage helps to stimulate blood circulation to an area, which speeds healing.  When combined with healing oils, such as the essential oils blends listed above or pepper rub below, you get a double benefit.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #10 – Hot Pepper Rubs

Capsaicin, which produces the burn in hot peppers, has been used to relive pain from arthritis, joint and muscle pain and general muscles soreness.  It is available in over the counter products, or you can make your own by mixing 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper with one cup of olive or (warm) coconut oil.  Some people combine it with aloe vera gel instead.  Apply the rub to the affected area, and wash your hands after application.  Keep the rub away from your eyes, nose and mouth – it will cause irritation.  Test on a small area to make sure that it does not make you more uncomfortable instead of relieving your pain.  This one is not for everyone.

Home Remedy for Sore Muscles #11 – Rest

Sometimes the best thing you can do is not do anything at all.  If you rest up for a couple of days, general muscle soreness should pass on its own.  Of course, for many of us, when things get busy in the garden or on the farm, rest isn’t easy to come by, so do what works for you.

In 2008, a remarkable study took place comparing a glass of water to an antacid and "acid blocking" drugs, in their overall effect in increasing gastric pH (i.e. making it more alkaline) in healthy subjects.
  • A glass of water (200 ml)
  • Antacid
  • Ranitidine (Zantac)
  • Omeprazole (Prilosec/Losec)
  • Esomeprazole (Nexium)
  • Rabeprazole (AcipHex)
Gastric pH was recorded for six hours after drug intake.

The study found it took the following duration to increase gastric pH >4:
  • Water increased pH >4 in 10/12 subjects after 1 minute
  • Antacid increased pH >4 in 2 minutes
  • Rantidine increased pH >4 in 50 minutes
  • Omeprazole increased pH >4 in 171 minutes
  • Esomeprazole increased pH >4 in 151 minutes
  • Rabeprazole increased pH >4 in 175 minutes

What would you rather do? Get instant relief with a glass of water, which has loads of side benefits to your health, or wait between 50 minutes to 175 minutes (close to 3 hours!) as the excess acid burns the lining of your stomach, using a chemical class of drugs which have the potential to cause the following unintended, adverse side effects:
  1. Clostridium Infections
  2. Diarrhea
  3. Pneumonia
  4. Vitamin C Deficiency
  5. Gastric Cancer
  6. Bone Fractures
  7. Magnesium Deficiency
  8. Myopathies
  9. Vitamin B12 Deficiency
Of course, water will only "water down" a problem that is often a direct result of bad food combining, excessive portions, food-body incompatibilities, acute or chronic stress, undiagnosed overgrowth of pathogens, and environmental allergies, to name but a few known contributing factors. But, water can do no harm, whereas using chemicals to poison the proton pumps or histamine receptors on the parietal cells in the stomach into shutting down acid production has an obvious set of serious side effects that can and should be avoided, whenever possible.

First, it must be clarified that there are a wide range of plants whose bark are sold as cinnamon. The first though less used form is known as Cinnamomum verum (literally "true cinnamon") and is sometimes called Ceylon (the ancient name of Sri Lanka) cinnamon, as it is named after the geographic region where it was first commonly cultivated.  Due to its rarity, it is more expensive and harder to find on the market.

Other forms include:
  •  C. cassia (Cassia or Chinese cinnamon)
  •  C. burmannii ( Indonesian cinnamon)
  •  C. loureiroi (Vietnamese cinnamon)
One of the major differences between C. verum and varieties such as C. burmannii and C. cassia is that the latter types contain much higher levels of coumarin, a naturally occurring phytochemical with blood-thinning properties.  This has prompted European health agencies to warn against consuming large amounts of cinnamon varieties such as cassia.  Natural blood-thinning activity, of course, within the proper context can be life-saving, but when mixed with already dangerous blood-thinning drugs such as aspirin, can be a recipe for disaster - all the more reason why folks using spices and herbs in 'pharmacological' or heroic doses should consult a medical herbalist, or physician with a nuanced understanding of the benefits and potential harms of using high-dose herbal therapies.

Another issue that the US buyer of spices must be fully aware of is the likelihood that unless explicitly labeled USDA certified organic the cinnamon they are purchasing was exposed to toxic levels of gamma irradiation in a controversial process known as "electronic" or "cold" pasteurization. To learn more about this serious threat to our food supply read: The Invisible Nuclear Threat in Non-Organic Food.

Lastly, be mindful of the differences between the powdered whole herb, various water or alcohol extracts, and the oil itself. Some of the studies below focus on solely the oil component (90% of the oil is the therapeutic substance known as cinnamaldehyde whereas others use water soluble components. The information listed below is not provided as medical advice but to illustrate the vast potential natural substances have to be used in a therapeutic manner.

Blood Sugar Disorders

Probably the most well-known health benefit of cinnamon is for blood sugar disorders.  And this is for good reason. There is now a rather substantial body of clinical and preclinical research showing that it may help to improve the condition of both type 2 and type 1 diabetics in the following ways:
  •  Type 2 diabetics:  Improve fasting blood sugar, reduce glycated hemoglobin (A1C) and blood pressure, increase glucose optimization in a manner similar to metformin, improve insulin signaling and sensitivity, and improve blood lipid profiles.
  •  Type 1 diabetics: Protect against hypertension, protect against diabetes-associated kidney damage, suppress post-meal blood sugar elevations, and contribute to ongoing reduction in blood sugar.
While there is extant folk medical lore indicating that honey mixed with cinnamon can help relieve a sore throat, or fight off infection, few realize it has been confirmed to have extensive anti-infective properties against a wide range of bacteria, viruses and fungi.
It makes sense that cinnamon bark would protect against infection, as one of the major biological functions of plant bark is defense against predation (i.e. infection).

What follows is an impressive range of pathogens that appear to succumb to cinnamon:
  •         Aspergillus niger
  •         Campylobacter Infections
  •         Candida Infection
  •         Coronaviridae (SARS-associated) Infections
  •         Escherichia coli Infections
  •         H1N1 Infection
  •         Head Lice
  •         HIV Infections
  •         Insect Bites: Repellent
  •         Klebsiella Infections
  •         Legionnaires' disease
  •         MRSA
  •         Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  •         Staphylococcal Infections
Like many natural spices that have been used for thousands of years, we are only now just beginning to comprehend through scientific research how important they are in not simply flavoring our foods but helping keep us free of disease.

Researchers at Iran's Isfahan University of Medical Sciences studied the effects of ginger and cinnamon on the muscle pain of 60 fit female competitive Taekwondo players, aged 13-25 years.  The women were divided into three groups. For six weeks, each group took three grams (1 tsp = 4 grams) of either powdered ginger, cinnamon or placebo every day.

During the study, the women were tested for an indicator of inflammation and for muscle soreness.  The results, published in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine, showed that women in both the ginger and cinnamon groups had significantly less muscle soreness after exercising than the placebo group.  A similar study from the University of Georgia, also confirmed ginger's ability to relieve muscle soreness after strenuous exercise.

Headache Healer

Coriander is regarded as a natural way to help get rid of a headache. Grind coriander leaves to release their juices and rub the paste on your forehead to relieve an aching headache. Or, sleep with a coriander leaf on your pillow.

Immunity Strengthener

Coriander leaves are packed with magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Eat coriander regularly and you will surely boost your overall immunity.

Fatigue Support

Basil is known to help treat adrenal fatigue. Place a few drops of basil oil on clothing to carry the effects with you all day or include some fresh basil at mealtime for a pick-me-up.

Acne Treatment

Because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, basil is great for combating acne. Steep fresh basil leaves in hot water for 20-30 minutes. Let the water cool and use a cotton ball to apply the basil-infused liquid to acne-prone areas on your skin.

Lung Booster

Thyme contains an oil called thymol that acts as an antiseptic and disinfectant. Add a sprig of thyme to hot water with honey and lemon for a soothing drink that prevents bronchitis and clears lung passageways with each sip.

Bitter gourd, also known as karela or bitter melon, is a vegetable found all over Asia with some newly proven, astounding health benefits. A study published in the scientific journal Carcinogenesis has shown that bitter gourd juice restricts the ability of pancreatic cancer cells to metabolize glucose, and in the process cuts off the cancer’s energy source, effectively killing them.
Anomalous cancer cells in the pancreas have no chance to grow with bitter gourd, but the fruit also helps to regulate pancreatic secretions, an important function that many diabetics have trouble doing on their own.

Rajesh Agarwal, PhD, co-programme leader of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Colorado University Cancer Center, said that these findings were due to an ‘alteration in metabolic events in pancreatic cancer cells and an activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase, an enzyme that indicates low energy levels in the cells.’

Similar studies done three years ago had shown that breast cancer cells could not survive in a petri dish with bitter gourd juice. Many people in Asia already consume bitter gourd juice in large quantities, and this may indicate the lower rates of many types of cancers.

Bitter Melon an Ancient Natural Medicine

Many diabetics eventually also suffer from pancreatic cancer, and bitter gourd has been shown to effectively control type-II diabetes with promising success. The bitter gourd has also been used as a folk remedy for this ailment for thousands of years in both India and Asia. Agarwal and his colleagues were interested in ‘cutting out the middle man’ between diabetes and pancreatic cancer, and this is how the experiment with bitter gourd juice was inspired. In diabetics, bitter gourd effectively regulates the secretion of insulin by the pancreas’s beta cells.

Mice that were fed bitter melon were 60% less likely to develop pancreatic cancer as well. Further research conducted (Oishi et al. 2007, Kumar Shetty et al. 2005) has shown that glucose metabolism begins in the gut, and as carbohydrates and sugars are metabolized to glucose before leaving the gut, bitter gourd reduces the amount of sugar (glucose) released into the body by inhibiting enzymes that break down disaccharides to two monosaccharides.

“Bitter gourd can influence the transport channels for glucose, which also reduces glucose transport into the blood (Singh et al. 2004). This effect is important for the treatment of both Type I and Type II diabetic patients and helps to prevent high blood sugar levels after meals.”

Instead of utilizing cancer drugs that cause expensive chemo and radiation treatments or decidedly unsavory side effects, people can consume bitter melon juice to help support the overall health of the pancreas and prevent both diabetes and pancreatic cancer.

It regulates blood fat, lowers cholesterol level, helps to build immunity, delays the aging process, prevents cells from turning cancerous and prevents arteriosclerosis.

Scientific research studies in China have shown that Jiaogulan (Jiao Gu Lan) decreases cholesterol by improving the liver's ability to send sugar and carbohydrates to the muscles for conversion to energy instead of turning the sugar into triglycerides which the body stores as fat.

It lowers LDL's (bad cholesterol) while raising HDL's (good cholesterol). It improves fat metabolism, reduces blood fat levels and depresses lipid peroxide and fat sediment in the blood vessels, while it is great for rectifying high cholesterol and obesity problems, it can also improve and strengthen the digestion, allowing an underweight person to increase absorption of nutrients and gain weight in the form of lean muscle mass. This regulatory effect on bodily functions is the hallmark of an adaptogen. This is all-natural healthy, herbal, product from the plant Jiaogulan.

Jiaogulan prevents cells from turning cancerous and also inhibits the growth of tumors already formed by stimulating the body's immune system cells. Cancer patients given Jiaogulan show marked improvement in white blood cell count antibody levels, and raised T and B lymphocyte levels.

Jiaogulan is one of the best broad-spectrum adaptogenic herbs known, containing polysaccharides, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, flavones, saponins and many essential trace elements. Very safe for long-term use. Highly effective in reducing the side-effects of radiation and chemotherapy by boosting the immune system.

Athletes use Jiaogulan to enhance their performance because it enhances the heart pumping function, improving contraction of the heart muscle. The most pronounced benefits are increased endurance during strong physical activity, and more rapid recovery afterwards.

Jiaogulan contains 84 beneficial saponins - three times more than ginseng, yet it has no side-effects. Due to its significantly higher quantity of beneficial saponins, it has been widely studied and used worldwide, including for patients recovering from exposure to ultraviolet, beta and gamma-rays. It also dramatically reduces cholesterol levels, normalizes blood pressure, protects the heart, and increases fat metabolism.

Over 300 scientific research findings back up nearly every claim for Jiaogulan (also known as Gynostemma pentaphyllum). Jiaogulan is a superb immune-enhancer and antioxidant for all ages.

Cancer Protection - Jiaogulan prevents cells from turning cancerous and also inhibits the growth of tumors already formed by stimulating the body's immune system cells. Cancer patients given Jiaogulan show marked improvement in white blood cell count antibody levels, and raised T and B lymphocyte levels. It has been shown that Jiaogulan has activity against esophagal, lung, breast, uterus, prostate, brain, kidney, thymus and skin cancer.

Reduce the Risk of Strokes and Heart Attacks - Jiaogulan dramatically decreases the chances of a stroke by inhibiting blood platelets from "sticking together," which prevents a stroke-inducing blood clot from forming. This same action prevents artery clogging, reducing risk of a heart attack.

Build Your Immune System - In China, doctors prescribe daily doses of Jiaogulan for patients recovering from heart and brain surgery, because the herb supports the immune system, aiding in a quicker and more effective recovery. Patients undergoing cancer therapies such as radiation and chemotherapy receive Jiaogulan as well. Research has shown that Jiaogulan can increase the white blood cell count, which strengthens resistance, thus improving the patients' ability to recover.

Stay Younger Longer. Biochemist Subbuti Dharmenanda says that signs of aging are avoidable if you can tame the free radicals that cause them. "If free radicals aren't shut down, they cause everything from cataracts to cancer.” But studies show that taking just 40 mg of Penta daily triples production of superoxide dismutase, a chemical that neutralizes free radicals by 21%.

Bronchitis. Penta (Jiaogulan) tea has been traditionally used as a remedy for bronchitis. In one study, the effectiveness rate of using Penta tea to treat chronic bronchitis was 93%.

Stress Reduction. Penta has a bi-phasic action on the central nervous system, calming the nerves when irritated and exciting them when depressed. This is why Penta is known as an adaptogen. The increased balance affects other systems of the body, normalizing the balance between other organs' functions, thereby bolstering stability of the body as a whole. This results in better brain function, increased endurance, and resistance to illness and injury.

Antioxidant Properties of Penta. Antioxidants are an important factor in treating cancer, liver disease, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, arthritis inflammation and even the aging process. Penta (Jiaogulan) has been proven in many studies to have a powerful antioxidant effect, by protecting the body from free radical damage.

Reducing Blood Pressure, Preventing Strokes and Heart Attacks. Penta dramatically decreases the chances of a stroke by inhibiting blood platelets from "sticking together," which prevents the formation of stroke-inducing blood clots. This same action prevents artery clogging, thereby reducing risk of a heart attack. Also, studies show that in as little as two weeks, a small dose of Penta taken daily, lowers high blood pressure to a normal range. By increasing production of nitric oxide - a chemical that relaxes blood vessel walls - the herb effectively reduces the blood pressure. In addition, Penta reduces cholesterol by about 25%.

Building Up the Immune System. In China, doctors prescribe daily doses of Jiaogulan (Penta) for patients recovering from heart and brain surgery. Why? Because the herb supports the immune system, aiding in a quicker and more effective recovery. Patients undergoing cancer therapies such as radiation and chemotherapy receive Penta as well. Research has shown that Penta can increase the white blood cell count, which strengthens resistance, thus improving the patients' ability to recover.

Improving Cardiovascular Function. Athletes use the herb to enhance their performance, as Penta has been found to enhance the heart pumping function, improving contractility of the heart muscle. Endurance during heightened physical activity and recovery afterwards are the most pronounced benefits.

The tea has no side-effects, no over dose effects, as per the test done by the Stimulant Testing Center of Chinese Sports Medical Science Institute, the tea is without any stimulants forbidden by provisions(1988) of International Olympic Commission.

Note: for those who are living in Malaysia, you can get Jiaogulan tea from Hai-O store

Are you not a better person now?

A lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her cell phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc., was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral lesson:

a. Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.

b. And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.

c. Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON Even if this doesn't pertain to you....Pass it on to your family and friends. It may be useful.

Iodine is a trace element, which means that we don’t need a ton of it in order to function properly, but we still need it. The kicker is that the body doesn’t make it naturally, so we’ve got to get it from outside sources. Running low on it for long periods of time will result in Iodine Deficiency. This means you’ll be missing out on the following benefits, and also setting yourself up for certain conditions and diseases. Here are some of the things that Iodine can help with:

1. Improves Cognitive Abilities
It’s been shown that those with an impairment in cognitive function are brought up to speed on their Iodine levels there is an improvement that goes along with it. For most people their cognitive functioning is just fine, and this is due to getting enough Iodine on a regular basis. For those that have had a sinking suspicion that they are behind in both cognitive abilities and having low amounts of Iodine, it’s worth getting things checked out.

2. Detoxes Fluoride
You don’t want to consumer too much Iodine just to try to get rid of fluoride, but getting the right amount of Iodine will help to make sure that your body has the ability to combat the level of toxic fluoride. Fluoride accumulates in the body over time, so it’s good to be able to help neutralize it with Iodine, rather than letting it store up over several months of even years. The good news is that you are likely getting enough Iodine, so this is happening for most people automatically.

3. Improves Metabolism
Your thyroid is a major factor in regulating your metabolism, and if your Iodine levels are low, you run the risk of having an underactive thyroid, and therefore a sluggish metabolism. Get your Iodine levels to a good place and all else being equal you should see an increase in your metabolic rate. It’s always a good idea to get tested to see if you do indeed have an Iodine deficiency, rather than just assuming you do and taking a supplement when it’s not needed.
4. Protects Thyroid
Because of the world we live in, each day we’re bombarded by products, foods, drinks, and lifestyles that expose us to free radicals. These attack the body, including the thyroid. Having the right amount of Iodine helps to protect the thyroid from free radical damage. Not having enough means you are leaving it susceptible to this damage, which over time can lead to additional problems and conditions.

5. Balances Hormones
Having low amounts of Iodine can throw your hormones out of whack because it has a direct effect on your thyroid gland, which in turn regulates many of your hormones. It has also been said to help bring your libido up to its natural levels. Sometimes it can be hard to identify the symptoms of low Iodine, but together with your doctor you can figure it out, and if you find out that you’ve been running a shortage you can take steps to make things right again.

6. Improves Hair Growth
You shouldn’t start taking massive amounts of Iodine in hopes that it will help turn around your male pattern baldness, but it has been linked to the health of the hair, and how fast it grows. This is just one sign that you may be running behind on your Iodine, if you’ve noticed that your hair is not growing as quickly, or as fully as it used to. Be sure to look for other signs before drawing conclusions.
7. Increases Energy Levels
Not getting enough Iodine each day sets you up for not having as much energy as you would otherwise. This is because it helps with proper thyroid function, and this is a big factor in whether you feel up and ready to go, or if you feel lethargic and like you need more rest. It’s not something that is often discussed when talking about healthy energy levels, but more and more we’re finding out the important role that Iodine plays in that department.

8. Provides Protection from Radiation
One benefit of Iodine that most people will hopefully not need to experience is that it helps protect from radiation. This can come in handy for disasters like the one at the nuclear power plant in Japan, but doctors are also using it to help patients recover from radiation treatments.

9. Protects from Pathogens
Iodine is being considered more and more as an alternative to using antibiotics in the body to treat certain pathogens. Many people do not like the idea of taking an oral antibiotic, since it’s been known to kill off good bacteria as well as bad, and can leave the body with excess levels of candida. But Iodine has been shown to have a similar effect while not damaging healthy bacteria that the body needs.

10. Protects Against Cancer
In a process known as apoptosis, Iodine helps the body kill off cells that could end up leading to cancer. This is one of the most important reasons to get your Iodine levels checked at your next doctor visit, or even to schedule a particular visit to have all of your vitamin and mineral levels checked. You can’t really know what you need to focus on if you don’t know what you’re lacking, or what you’re abundant in.

Don’t underestimate the power of cinnamon, it’s not just for baking anymore. You can get weight loss benefits simply by adding more cinnamon to your diet, with teaspoon a day showing positive results. What causes the magic?
