Carrots and Cancer Research
Falcarinol is an antioxidant found in carrots and has proven anticancer properties. Researchers in the UK and Denmark reduced cancerous tumors by 1/3 in mice and rats with lab induced cancers.
Additionally, a human study found that consumption of carrot juice increased blood levels of carotenoids in breast cancer survivors. The researchers believe that increased carotenoid blood levels acts as a cancer preventive.

For muscle cramps, dōTERRA recommends lemongrass with peppermint, marjoram or Deep Blue® (blend). For muscle spams, top recommended oils are basil, marjoram, Deep Blue® (blend) and Roman Chamomile. In 2008, a remarkable study took place comparing a glass of water to an antacid and "acid blocking" drugs, in their overall effect in increasing gastric pH (i.e. making it more alkaline) in healthy subjects.

First, it must be clarified that there are a wide range of plants whose bark are sold as cinnamon. The first though less used form is known as Cinnamomum verum (literally "true cinnamon") and is sometimes called Ceylon (the ancient name of Sri Lanka) cinnamon, as it is named after the geographic region where it was first commonly cultivated. Due to its rarity, it is more expensive and harder to find on the market.
Other forms include:
- C. cassia (Cassia or Chinese cinnamon)
- C. burmannii ( Indonesian cinnamon)
- C. loureiroi (Vietnamese cinnamon)
Another issue that the US buyer of spices must be fully aware of is the likelihood that unless explicitly labeled USDA certified organic the cinnamon they are purchasing was exposed to toxic levels of gamma irradiation in a controversial process known as "electronic" or "cold" pasteurization. Lastly, be mindful of the differences between the powdered whole herb, various water or alcohol extracts, and the oil itself. Some of the studies below focus on solely the oil component (90% of the oil is the therapeutic substance known as cinnamaldehyde whereas others use water soluble components. The information listed below is not provided as medical advice but to illustrate the vast potential natural substances have to be used in a therapeutic manner.
Blood Sugar DisordersProbably the most well-known health benefit of cinnamon is for blood sugar disorders. And this is for good reason. There is now a rather substantial body of clinical and preclinical research showing that it may help to improve the condition of both type 2 and type 1 diabetics in the following ways:
- Type 2 diabetics: Improve fasting blood sugar, reduce glycated hemoglobin (A1C) and blood pressure, increase glucose optimization in a manner similar to metformin, improve insulin signaling and sensitivity, and improve blood lipid profiles.

Researchers at Iran's Isfahan University of Medical Sciences studied the effects of ginger and cinnamon on the muscle pain of 60 fit female competitive Taekwondo players, aged 13-25 years. The women were divided into three groups. For six weeks, each group took three grams (1 tsp = 4 grams) of either powdered ginger, cinnamon or placebo every day.
During the study, the women were tested for an indicator of inflammation and for muscle soreness. The results, published in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine, showed that women in both the ginger and cinnamon groups had significantly less muscle soreness after exercising than the placebo group. A similar study from the University of Georgia, also confirmed ginger's ability to relieve muscle soreness after strenuous exercise.
Coriander is regarded as a natural way to help get rid of a headache. Grind coriander leaves to release their juices and rub the paste on your forehead to relieve an aching headache. Or, sleep with a coriander leaf on your pillow.
Coriander leaves are packed with magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Eat coriander regularly and you will surely boost your overall immunity.
Basil is known to help treat adrenal fatigue. Place a few drops of basil oil on clothing to carry the effects with you all day or include some fresh basil at mealtime for a pick-me-up.
Because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, basil is great for combating acne. Steep fresh basil leaves in hot water for 20-30 minutes. Let the water cool and use a cotton ball to apply the basil-infused liquid to acne-prone areas on your skin.

Bitter gourd, also known as karela or bitter melon, is a vegetable found all over Asia with some newly proven, astounding health benefits. A study published in the scientific journal Carcinogenesis has shown that bitter gourd juice restricts the ability of pancreatic cancer cells to metabolize glucose, and in the process cuts off the cancer’s energy source, effectively killing them.
Anomalous cancer cells in the pancreas have no chance to grow with bitter gourd, but the fruit also helps to regulate pancreatic secretions, an important function that many diabetics have trouble doing on their own.
Rajesh Agarwal, PhD, co-programme leader of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Colorado University Cancer Center, said that these findings were due to an ‘alteration in metabolic events in pancreatic cancer cells and an activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase, an enzyme that indicates low energy levels in the cells.’
Similar studies done three years ago had shown that breast cancer cells could not survive in a petri dish with bitter gourd juice. Many people in Asia already consume bitter gourd juice in large quantities, and this may indicate the lower rates of many types of cancers.
Bitter Melon an Ancient Natural MedicineMany diabetics eventually also suffer from pancreatic cancer, and bitter gourd has been shown to effectively control type-II diabetes with promising success. The bitter gourd has also been used as a folk remedy for this ailment for thousands of years in both India and Asia. Mice that were fed bitter melon were 60% less likely to develop pancreatic cancer as well. Further research conducted (Oishi et al. 2007, Kumar Shetty et al. 2005) has shown that glucose metabolism begins in the gut, and as carbohydrates and sugars are metabolized to glucose before leaving the gut, bitter gourd reduces the amount of sugar (glucose) released into the body by inhibiting enzymes that break down disaccharides to two monosaccharides.

For years, we've all heard that global warming is threatening our planet. But now, in a stunning turnaround, world scientists are warning that an era of global cooling seems to be upon us, complete with extraordinary expansions of ocean ice being recorded in just the past year.
Even the latest UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report seems to indicate that an era of global cooling is now underway, according to many scientists.
It turns out that global warming predictions were little more than doom-and-gloom fear mongering based on failed computer models.
For example, in 2007, the BBC reported that the Arctic would be "ice-free" by the summer of 2013. Here's exactly how that fear mongering was published by the BBC:

Their latest modelling studies indicate northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just 5-6 years.
